Housing
All sorts of houses and apartments are available in Iyashikei. What is listed below are just some of the types and locations.
We do not require you to post what type of housing your character took or where they chose to live. What is listed is by no means an extensive list, so please feel free to get creative with the architecture!
If your character wants to live in a Victorian Queen Anne house, by all means! If your character would feel comfortable in something that looks like a gingerbread house, that's fine, too.
The only type of housing that is not available are things like castles, towers, and mansions.
Additionally, due to it being a protected habitat, no one is allowed permanent housing in the Iyashikei Redwood Forest.

Big apartment buildings can only be found in Iyashikei City but apartments are basically everywhere in both the Main Hub and Outer Rim. They range from studio apartments to luxury two-bedroom apartments. Weirdly, Iyashikei doesn't have anything larger than a two-bedroom apartment.
The apartments can be, by far, the most high-tech of the housing options and feel the most futuristic but some opt for cozy ones overlooking the canals. All apartments can have their interior remodeled to a character's needs and desires, and you don't ever have to worry about losing your deposit!
Some apartments have shops on the first floor, some are dedicated just to housing. But even with all the hustle and bustle, Iyashikei makes sure nature is never too far away. Almost every building has a garden on the roof or on a dedicated floor for larger buildings. It's very common to be gifted one (or several) house plants once your character moves in. Community parks are always within walking distance.

There is all sorts of housing on the Outer Rim, it has the most diversity in architecture and also allows for the largest housing. The largest housing available are lovely three-story homes with a maximum of four bedrooms. If a character needs housing specifically catered to their size, you're going to find it in the Outer Rim neighborhoods.
Unlike any apartment home, Outer Rim houses are customizable inside and out, paint it rainbow polka-dots and put in a pool in back! Have the kitchen remolded to be the kitchen of a professional chef. Knock out all the walls and make one giant master bedroom! It's your house!
Outer Rim is more known for cafes and farmers markets, but just like the Main Hub, there are all sorts of parks to enjoy nearby.

Easily the farthest housing from all that goes on at Iyashikei's Main Hub. All the beach homes are bright and colorful and the homes give off the feeling of relaxation and restfulness. On the upside, you get to look out and see the ocean every single day! Just don't have a thing about sand as it is literally... everywhere.
The homes can be three stories and three to four bedrooms, they have giant windows or porches that look out towards the ocean. They have a hard time having super futuristic tech as saltwater air and technology don't mix.

With so many canals, the bay, and the ocean itself it should come as no surprise just how many people opt to live on a boat! Boathouses allow the owner to decide if they want to be in the city for the day, hang out by Mystic Market, or dock at Whimsy World for the week!
Boathouses are the most to utilize a small living area, boasting more or less just one bedroom. And it's not uncommon for people to offer rides to and from someplace with their floating abode.
The only place a boathouse can't go is the heart of the city, and some of the more narrow canals, but otherwise none of them are too big for the main canals.

Farmland homes come in two flavors: Over Fields and Under Fields. Both utilize round or dome-like designs. While no one would ever MAKE you run or work on a farm if you opt to live in a farmland home, it's hard not to get caught up in all that's going on.
Over Field homes tend to focus on crops while Under Field homes tend to be owned by those who have livestock. Both also tend to be the largest homes in Iyashikei, boasting up to five bedrooms so that they can house all the people who help on the farm, temporary or otherwise.
One of the Council members is especially fond of visiting the farmland homes, especially the Under Field homes. The Council member is well known for helping with fireworks during festivals.

If needed or so desired, dormitories are offered to students of the schools.
The dorms house two students for every one dorm room. Yadah University and Minarai have six dorm rooms with a shared kitchen, a living room, and two bathrooms with showers in the center. Think of the layout as something akin to a horseshoe shape with the kitchen, living room, and bathrooms being in the center space, with the bedroom forming the shape of the horseshoe. The living room is how students would exit out to and from their quarters. Dorms are separated by age as well as male and female dormitories. Those who may not identify as either, fluid, or neither are allowed to decide where they would like to reside or can be provided separate dormitory housing. Both Minarai and Yadah campuses have cafeterias, however, Yadah is the only campus that also has restaurants and cafes students can go to. Yadah and Minari also have gyms for students among the offered sports electives. Yadah has the most extensive.
This is not the case for Minnow Elementary. Minnow Elementary is, instead, three students per room and there is a giant communal living room. On both sides of the living room there are multiple bathrooms and showers. On the other side of the living room is a giant cafeteria where students will find the main dining room where all meals are served throughout the day both for dormitory and day-attending students.
All three campuses have 24-7 nurses, counselors, and security that have been thoroughly vetted to ensure the wellness and safety of all students using campus housing.
